At our starting prices, a weed control program runs about $225 for the season (5 visits), fertilization plus weed control about $260 (5 visits), and our complete program with fall aeration and overseeding starts at $479.99 for the year. Final prices are based on your measured lawn area, so larger lawns cost more. We measure for free with every quote.

What Drives the Price of Lawn Care
- Lawn size. Product and time both scale with the treatable area, which is why any honest quote starts with a measurement, not a guess.
- What's in the program. Weed control only, fertilization plus weed control, and a complete program with aeration are three different levels of service.
- The fertilizer. Slow-release blends and higher application rates cost more than cheap quick-release products, but they feed the lawn longer. See our guide on why fertilizer rate matters more than brand.
- How many visits. Minnesota's growing season is shorter than in the South, so northern lawns need fewer applications per year. Our programs run 5 or 6 visits, timed to the season.
- Lawn condition. Heavy weed pressure, compaction, or thin turf can mean extra work or a fall aeration and overseeding to catch up.
- Access and add-ons. Locked gates, steep slopes, and services like leaf cleanup or snow removal change the total.

Our fertilization starting price sits at the low end because it applies to smaller lawns, and it rises with the treatable area. Aeration falls in the middle of the national range. Lawn Love also notes that buying an annual package generally costs less than paying for applications one at a time, which is why we sell seasonal programs.
How to Compare Lawn Care Quotes
Two quotes with the same price can be very different services. Ask each company these questions:
- Was the price based on a measured lawn? A quote that never asked for your lawn size is a guess.
- How many visits, and what goes down at each? A cheap price with three visits is not the same as a fair price with five.
- What product, and at what rate? Ask for pounds of product per 1,000 square feet and whether it's slow-release. A low price often means a lower rate.
- Is the crabgrass pre-emergent timed to soil temperature? It has to go down before soil reaches about 55°F, usually late April in southern Minnesota. See our pre-emergent timing guide.
- Is it licensed? Commercial pesticide applicators in Minnesota are licensed through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Ask to see the license.
- Is the fertilizer phosphorus-free? Minnesota law requires it for lawns unless a soil test shows a need or you're seeding new turf. See our fall fertilization guide.
- What's extra? Aeration, overseeding, grub control, and spot treatments are sometimes billed separately.
- What are the terms? Ask about contracts, cancellation, and prepay discounts before you sign.
Doing It Yourself vs. Hiring a Pro
You can absolutely treat your own lawn, and plenty of people do it well. The costs to weigh are your time, a spreader and sprayer, and getting the timing and rate right. Most DIY problems come from applying a pre-emergent too late, spreading too much or too little fertilizer, or missing the fall window. If you enjoy it, our guides cover the timing and rates. Questions We Get
Is a full-season program cheaper than paying per visit?
Usually, yes. Programs are priced to cover the whole season, and paying up front saves an extra 5% with us. Individual applications are a good choice if you only need one service, like fall aeration.
Why does the price depend on lawn size?
Because the product and the time both scale with area. A 5,000 square foot lawn and a 15,000 square foot lawn need very different amounts of material, so a flat price for both would mean one of them is overpaying.
What isn't included in a program?
Mowing, leaf cleanup, and snow removal are separate services. Peak Performance includes fall aeration and overseeding. On the other programs, aeration is an add-on.
